Hey, I wanted to shoot out a quick post about some speed intervals I did this week. I met with the Tues. Performance group this week. I have not met with them for about 3-4 weeks. My schedule at work had some temporary changes and I was also focused on doing the Hood to Coast relay several weeks ago.
So, it was nice to meet with the group. This week we met at the COCC (Central Oregon Community College) track. They have a nice track and it has recently been resurfaced.
This week we ran 400 meter (1/4 mile) speed intervals. 16 x 400 meter intervals with a 1 min rest in between. I felt a little sluggish at the start but kept my 400 meter runs under 2 min. Each interval started off good, then rounding the last corner of the track I had to push a little more, but felt good. About 4 or 5 intervals in I was actually feeling better. I still kept all of my interval times under 2 min and did all 16, so that was good for me at the moment.
I am amazed at how fast some of the other runners are, many of them were doing around 1: 30 or faster per 400 meter interval. That is a nice pace.
I felt a good workout and was glad I made it out to meet with the group.
